In her nine year long career, Raima Sen has done some noteworthy films like Godmother, Chokher Bali and Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd, and worked with great directors like Aparna Sen, Rituparno Ghosh and Pradeep Sarkar.
The young actress is now getting ready for her next film Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye, a unique film, co-starring Randeep Hooda and Arbaaz Khan. The film revolves around Raima's marriage gone bad with Arbaaz, making her take refuge in her fantasy man, played by Randeep.
She tells Patcy N more.
What is Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye about?
It is about a woman's journey to realising her dreams. She is a small-town married woman, with a child, who has given up her dream of becoming a singer. But when her marriage starts getting claustrophobic and her life gets mundane, she decides to re-think her dreams and fantasies. She fantasizes about a dream man, played by Randeep Hooda, who is actually her alter ego. That helps her realise her ambition.
Could you relate to this story? Do you fantasize about a dream man too?
We all think that an ideal man will come along one day to help us with our problems. But in the film, I am not in love with my ideal man. He is an alter ego, who helps me realise my dream.
I do fantasise about my ideal man like anyone else but not in terms of helping me during crisis.
You play a mother. Do you think it's too early in your career to do roles like this?
Not really, because I play a young mother. Plus, I don't mind if the character is interesting. I played a mother in Aparna Sen's Japanese Wife as well. But they show me getting married at just 16 or 17 years.
I couldn't ask for more in Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye because it revolves around the woman.
