'I was destined to do Chandni Chowk to China'
Dancing to Bollywood tunes isn't such a big deal for our beloved celebrities. However, throw in some Chinese hip-hop and costumes to boot, and what do you have? Total confusion. And that is where Pony Verma (extreme right) comes in.
The choreographer of Chandni Chowk to China was instrumental in beautifully blending the two cultures by making the film's lead pair Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone dance to complex Chinese tunes.
After assisting Ganesh Hegde for 6 years, Verma got her first break in Priyadarshan's Malayalam film Kakakoyil. From there she bagged her first Hindi film, Yeh Tera Ghar Yeh Mera Ghar. Since then she has worked with Vaibhavi Merchant in films like Devdas and Kuch Na Kaho, and again with Priyadrashan (a record 15 times). She will be choreographing his next De Dhana Dan too.

But back to Chandni Chowk To China. Nithya Ramani finds out more.
How did Chandni Chowk to China happen to you?
I got a call from Rohan Sippy's office to shoot one song -- Tere Naina -- and a small sequence with Akshay and Deepika. Once I finished the song, I was called again to choreograph all the songs. So I think I was destined to do the film. I consider myself very lucky to be a part of such a massive project.
