Though he was not nominated for his widely praised performance, he is very fond of the film.
Danny Boyle, who won the Oscar for best director, has repeatedly said when Kapoor came on board, the project gained momentum. The English filmmaker said Kapoor was the brand ambassador for the film in India and across the world among South Asians.
"I was there at the Oscars not only rooting for the film but also the Indian movie industry, and I never missed a chance to mention our film industry," adds Kapoor.
