So it is with Slumdog Millionaire. When Slumdog first hit the screens, people from Asia's largest slum in Mumbai, Dharavi, put up banners saying 'We are not slum dogs'.

Elsewhere, they burnt effigies of the director Danny Boyle. But after the film's incredible haul at the Oscars, they are now celebrating the film's success.
