It is nice to see UTV making big budget films on one hand and smaller budget films on the other.
Whatever film we do, whether it is a big or a small budget film, we give them high profile release. That's why our films rarely fail.
But Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! was called a failure by the media...
The media should look at the overall picture. Oye Lucky! did not do that well at the box office because it released the same week the terrorists attacked Mumbai in November.
But we had full confidence in the film and knew that whoever had seen it were recommending it to their friends and family members. Yet the film could not revive itself significantly. So we released it on VOD just 11 days after its theatrical release; we were told we were rushing it into VOD. We persisted and we had spectacular response. Many times, especially the medium and low budget films do very well in the ancillary market and earn a decent profit.
