From designing posters to directing films

Siddharth Chandrasekhar became a celebrity in Chennai when Aamir Khan's Taare Zameen Par was released. Reason? There was an uncanny resemblance between his life and that of the dyslexic film protagonist, Ishant Avasti, played by Darsheel Safary.

Siddharth overcame his problem and started a successful advertising firm that designed posters for high profile films like Sivaji, Anniyan, Jillunu Oru Kadhal and Kanthasamy.

Now, he is ready to direct his first film Bale Pandiya with Vishnu (of Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu fame) and Piya (of Poi Solla Porom) fame in the lead roles.

Siddharth spoke to Shobha Warrier about Bale Pandiya:

While designing posters for films, did you want to direct films as well?

I have been in the creative field for a long time. I started my advertising agency because I loved computers and designing. After getting into advertising, I felt I should do something exciting. That is how I started film advertising. Slowly, I felt it was fun to get into direction.
