In the first half of the recession story, we spoke about how the current global economic meltdown is affecting the fate of Bollywood actresses. The current situation is made worse by the indefinite strike against multiplexes.
Now we turn to the actors to see how they're tackling with the financial crisis.
Akshay Kumar
Even after a string of flops, Akshay seems to be flushed with money. The actor who recently was the highest tax payer in Bollywood, also has a few films lined up.
First up, there's Priyadarshan's De Dana Dan opposite lucky mascot Katrina Kaif. The shooting for this movie is still going on.
Akshay also has Vipul Shah's Action replay opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, which is based on a Gujarati play of the same name.
Then there is Kambhakkht Ishq opposite Kareena Kapoor and a host of Hollywood stars including Sylvester Stallone and Denise Richards, and Blue, another multistarrer starring Sanjay Dutt, Zayed Khan, Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta.
Sajid Khan's Houseful has been announced and is in pre-production. Besides, the actor has Amit Kapoor's long pending Hello India which got stalled when the lead actress, Namrata Shirodkar, got married. The film was started last year again, this time with Udita Goswami in the lead.
