But Sajid Nadiadwala's Kambakkht Ishq gave this opportunity to fashion designer Shabina Khan. Directed by debutant Sabbir Khan, the film stars Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor.

Shabina spoke to Nithya Ramani about the stylish outfits the three superstars -- including Akshay -- wore in the film, and picks out her best.

What brief did you get for Akshay's outfits?

Sabbir Khan wanted a macho look for Akshay but not the cliched ganjis and tight t-shirts. I zeroed down on David Beckham's look.

I gave him tight cargos, unlike the loose ones people usually wear. We have used a lot of accessories -- waistcoats, boots and scarves.

Sajid asked me to do whatever I wanted, and let me spend as much as I wanted on the outfits. Most of Akshay's outfits cost between $ 3000 and $4000. He wears 50-55 outfits in the film. I didn't design many but we outsourced them. I shopped all over Los Angeles and Milan.
