'I starved myself to get bikini fit'

If you thought Minissha Lamba looked glamorous in Bachna Ae Haseeno, then you haven't seen anything yet.

Her upcoming movie, Kidnap opposite Imran Khan, will see her girl-next-door image replaced by a sexy one. Nithya Ramani found out just how the transformation took place.

How was the transition from Bachna Ae Haseeno to Kidnap?

The transition has been extensive and involved a lot of hard work. To play that girl [in Kidnap], I had to have a fit body and wear clothes that I normally would never wear. But in Bachna, I was in my comfort zone. My character, Mahi, was the sweetest girl you have ever met.

Tell us more about Kidnap

I play Sonia. She is 17 and loves to party. She rides bikes and swims in the ocean. She has a troubled relationship with her mum [played by Vidya Malvade], and is emotionally vulnerable. She has lived without a father [played by Sanjay Dutt] and that causes constant friction between her mum and her. That is also the reason why she is rebellious but not self-destructive. She doesn't smoke, drink or do drugs.

How was the experience of working with Imran Khan?

Fantastic! He is a lovely guy and a fantastic actor. He is very trusting, which is so endearing. He is always full of energy and ideas. He made the shoot a lot easier.

Have you seen his debut film, Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na?

Of course. He was shooting for Jaane Tu and Kidnap at the same time. We talked a lot about Jaane Tu. I was really happy for him when the film released. We all knew that he was going to be a superstar; that Jaane Tu would put him on the map.
