Rubbing shoulders with Big B, Priyadarshan!

It is raining hits in Tamil of late. Dhaam Dhoom, Jayam Kondaan, Saroja, Poi Solla Porom... the list just keeps on growing.

One person who is very excited about the unexpected success of Poi Solla Porom, directed by Vijay and produced by Priyadarshan and UTV is the heroine of the movie, Piaa. Incidentally the Tamil film is a remake of Khosla ka Ghosla.

Piaa, a girl from Etawah in Uttar Pradesh, was chosen by Priyadarshan after he shot her for an ad film.

Though Piaa came to Mumbai with dreams of making it big in Hindi films, it was her debut film in Tamil that got her noticed. Since the film's success, she is flooded with more offers in Tamil.

In this interview, Piaa speaks about her journey from Etawah to Chennai via Mumbai. Excerpts:

How did a girl from Etawah make her film debut in Tamil?

Yes, I am from Etawah, in UP, and I did my schooling there. Since my school days, I had only one ambition -- that of becoming an actress. I used to stand in front of the mirror, dressed up in my mother's sari and make-up, and dance. By the time I was 12, I started participating in various competitions where I won almost every time. That cemented my desire to be an actress.
