How is Kunal as a director?
Kunal is very experienced; he has directed about 300 ads. The speed and picturisation are the film's USP. Though Hijack is a commercial film, Kunal has shot it in a realistic manner. For one thing, there is no romance between me and Shiney. There's no dream sequence.
How was it doing a role with no romantic interests?
Very refreshing! This is the first time I've not fallen for my hero. It would be ridiculous falling in love during a hijack. Both of us play very strong characters.
Shiney has done many of his own stunts in the film. Do we get to see you do some as well?
I know people expect me to do some action after Cash and Dhoom but Kunal wanted to maintain the realistic look. I'm not some undercover ninja air hostess. I'm wearing a uniform with a fitted skirt, which does not permit me to perform kicks and cartwheels. Anyway, it wasn't required with Shiney there.
Were there any interesting incidents on the sets?
The terrorists were played by some newcomers from Delhi Film School. There was this scene where one of these guys had to put a gun to my throat. I just had a root canal done that day, and this guy was so intense about the scene that he whacked my face several times with the steel revolver. Soon after he keels over dragging me down with him. I was like, 'Dude, this wasn't in the scene!', and then I noticed that he had fainted!
