She's not one to shy away from difficult roles. After essaying a different kind of role in Rituparno Ghosh's The Last Lear, Preity Zinta is all set to experiment some more. In her next film Heroes, Preity plays a strong, single parent, who is also a Punjabi kudi.
Directed by Samir Karnik (of Kyun...! Ho Gaya Na, Nanhe Jaislmer), Heroes has a huge star cast including Dharmendra, Mithun Chakraborthy, Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, Dino Morea, Vatsal Seth, Sunny Deol and brother Bobby Deol.
As the film nears it's release date (October 24), Girish Rao caught up with the actress for more on the movie. Excerpts:
In Heroes, you play a war widow, who is bringing up her own children. You also drove a tractor and shot in Punjab. Was shooting for this film special?
The first thing I noticed about this film is that women or for that matter people in these villages are so tough. I mean, we always think that living in cities is stressful, but compared to the women in these villages, we are really such delicate darlings. These women do everything on their own! It's real hard life, and their sacrifices make up the real India.
