From Rojakoottam to Poo

After having reached the position of one of the top young stars in Tamil cinema, Srikanth suddenly disappeared from the film scene for almost a year.

Now he is back in his guru's latest film, Poo. It was Sasi who introduced Srikanth in Rojakoottam and the film was such a huge success that the actor got the name Rojakoottam Srikanth.

And with Poo releasing this Friday, Shobha Warrier caught up with the young actor for more on the movie. Excerpts:

It has been a while since a film of yours was released. Where were you?

Yes, it has been a long time. I took time off to reflect. Actually the break happened after a project with Sasi Sir got shelved. Then he got committed to this project with Moserbaer, and my frame of mind was that I had to be a little more cautious in choosing my films. Time passed and I was not doing anything.

Was it a difficult time for you, a person who was busy shooting till then?

Yes, it was a difficult time because you are too stressed out mentally. That was the period you are not sure of anything, and your decision making is bad. I feel when you are working and in rhythm, you make better decisions, and you can assess things well.

When you are successful, everything becomes easier and greener for you. The time lapse has taken a huge toll on me but then I had to come out of it.
