Katrina Kaif is the toast of the season, but the actress remains modest. She says that she does not belive in the numbers game, even as she belives in her new film, Yuvvraaj. Starring Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor and Zayed Khan, the film is directed by Subhash Ghai.
Katrina spoke to Patcy N about the film, and why she prefers Akshay Kumar over Salman.
Tell us about Yuvvraaj.
Yuvvraaj is a grand musical film. It is a larger-than-life, Subhash Ghai kind of film.
I play a musician, who stays in Austria. I am part of an orchestra. I come from a rich family, so playing the cello is a hobby, not a requirement.
Since I play the cello, it was important for me to know the instrument well. I have seen many films where the actor, playing a musician, doesn't even know how to hold the instrument and looks foolish on screen. I did not want that to happen with me, so I took cello classes. I wanted to know the exact posture -- the right way to sit while playing the instrument -- and other such nuances.
The costumes in Yuvvraaj make it look like a period drama.
Not at all, it is very much today's film. The film is set in Austria and people there, who are part of an orchestra, wear such clothes even today. Plus, when Subhash Ghai makes a film, it is grand. He wanted the old world charm as well.
