Subhash Ghai is known to be short-tempered. Was it difficult working with him?
It would be wrong to say that he is short-tempered. I would say Subhash Ghai is very adamant. He has certain things in mind and wants everything to be the way he percieves it. For instance, I did not want my hairstyle to look the same throughout the film. I did not want to wear the clothes that I did in the film throughout either. So sometimes, I would change my hairstyle a bit but Subhashji would send me back to get my hair done right -- and that hairstyle would take two hours. I had to wake up early just to get my hair done, the make-up did not take much time.
But he is very patient with his actors and understands them well. I have always wanted to work with Subhash Ghai. My mom is a big fan of his works.
How different is Subhash Ghai from the other directors you have worked with?
These days, directors come to you with bound scripts. But Subhashji has the whole vision in his mind. His judgement is superb. He is a great director. He has made some of the best films in the industry. His actresses have some or the other art forms like Taal [where Aishwarya Rai plays a singer-dancer] and Kisna [where Isha Sharvani plays a dancer].
