'I haven't got negative feedback for Paanchvi Pass, as I got for KBC'

Shah Rukh Khan took a break from the shooting of his television game show, Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hai, at Mumbai's Film City, located in the Western suburb of Goregaon, to clear the air about the show's falling TRPs and more.

He also spoke to Nithya Ramani about his movies, and why his upcoming role in Karan Johar's film is not inspired by Dustin Hoffman's character in Rainman. Over to SRK:

What do you think is the reason that Paanchvi Pass is not doing well?

I think there are some exterior and interior reasons. The exterior reasons are IPL of course. Everything is swept away by the IPL ratings. Also, maybe the telecast time, 8pm, may be too early for the audiences.

The interior reasons, I would say could be that it was marketed as a childish show, and the adults think it is not for them. Also, maybe people are uncomfortable to say, 'Mein paanchvi paas se tez nahi hoon' [when they lose]. That is the crux of the show. If that is removed, the whole show will be meaningless.

When you have taken a star like Shah Rukh Khan, market the show on the biggest channel and have the best production team, Synergy Adlabs, then the only weakling must be me. I have not been able to grab enough eyeballs that is expected of me. If I have to believe that a film has a big opening because I am in it, the IPL is doing well because I am in it, then I have to believe that if Paanchvi Pass does not have that kind of opening, then I am responsible for it.

The TRPs should have been 6, but it is only 3.5. We are hoping it will do well after the IPL. We have already seen the ratings go up from 2 to 3.5. I have not got any negative feedback for Paanchvi Pass, as I got for Kaun Banega Crorepati, where people told me that I did not fit the role.
