Who is this Indiana Jones anyway?
Top-drawer comic book artist Jim Steranko -- best known for creating Nick Fury, Agent Of S.H.I.E.L.D -- designed the look of Indiana Jones, complete with the fedora, the leather jacket, the 10-foot bullwhip and the boots.
Lucas himself took an active interest -- borrowing the whip, for example, from Zorro -- and costumer Deborah Nadoolman Landis later mentioned that Indiana's look -- as well as his character -- was largely based on Charlton Heston's Harry Steele in Secret Of The Incas.
