Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray's on-going diatribe against North Indians in Mumbai didn't stop at Amitabh Bachchan either. He complained of Big B's partial attitude towards his home state, Uttar Pradesh instead of contributing to Maharashtra where he became a superstar.

Quoting Thackeray: 'Didn't Bachchan contest his first election from Uttar Pradesh? Didn't he become UP's brand ambassador? When he acted in a non-Hindi film for the first time, was not it a Bhojpuri movie? Didn't he start a girl's school in (daughter-in-law) Aishwarya's name in UP.'

Bachchan, on his part, maintains, 'Everybody has a right to the freedom of speech but I only follow the law of the land, the Indian Constitution and my conscience.'
