It is now well known that Tamil superstar Rajnikanth watched the Malayalam film and cried as there are a lot of similarities in the story of the film and that of the superstar.
In no time, a Tamil remake of Kadha Parayumbol titled Kuselan starring Rajnikanth in Mammootty's role and Pasupathy in Sreenivasan's was announced.
P Vasu, the director of the Tamil remake also shot the Telugu version titled Kadhanayakudu simultaneously. If Kadha Parayumbol was the story of barber Balan with Mammootty in a guest role, Kuselan and Kadhanayakudu are marketed as Rajni films with many songs picturised on the superstar!
