I wanted a young actor. When I was ready with the script, I knew I wanted Shahid. I saw his film, Jab We Met, and decided to cast him in my next film. He knows what he does; he is very sharp.

Shahid tends to imitate Shah Rukh Khan.

Both of them are natural actors, and are very good with romance. The same goes for Vidya. I loved her work in Parineeta and Lage Raho Munna Bhai.

I narrated the script to Juhi first. She said that Kismat Konnection was a typical Shah Rukh film, 15 years ago.

Vidya seems to need help on her dance steps.

She is trained classical dancer. We have just finished a promotional music video, where she dances with Shahid. She was unaware of the steps, and had not rehearsed. That's why she found it difficult. Otherwise, she is an amazing dancer.

Shahid is a wonderful dancer. But Vidya is a hard worker. She puts her best into what she does.

It's very unlike to you to release a promotional music video.

Yes. I believe in flowing with the tide. I have never done it before in my films. If you're rigid, you'll become outdated. Times have changed. I do not mind changing, as long as it is not vulgar.

Your daughter, Rahila, has been associated with this film too.

Yes. Rahila has co-written this film with Sanjay Chel. It was her concept. I'm sure she will become a great director.
