How was the experience of working with the rest of the cast?
I worked with Mallika in Pyaar Ke Side Effects and with Kay Kay Menon in Shuarya. Actors don't generally stay in touch after the shoot is over. The warmth with Mallika and Kay Kay is there, but the friendship has not grown since. The compatibility level has increased. Mallika has a very good sense of humour.
With the others, it was a great experience. Paresh is one of the finest actors in the world, and one of the best actors I have worked with. He has a great concentration power, and is very versatile.
They are all very intelligent actors and so you don't have to waste time being formal.
How did your film with Santosh Sivan, Before The Rains, happen?
This is the best example of a crossover film. The crew in Before The Rains is multi-regional. It has American composers and actors, an Indian director, sound guys and actors, and English actors. The script was ready three years ago. I got a wonderful response in the US.
