When were you bitten by the acting bug?
It was during the sets of Khilaaf, starring Madhuri Dixit and Mithun Chakraborty. I was three years old then. There were so many fans going crazy over them, asking for autographs and pictures, that I just knew I wanted the same experience.
When I came home that day, I tried enacting the scenes in front of the mirror. My dad caught me and asked me what I was doing. I told him that I have to become a heroine. Of course, my dad thought it was just a phase.
Only when I turned 18 did he realise that I was serious. Since then, he has been very supportive, bringing me scripts and reading them to me.
How did you prepare for this role?
I have done an acting course from Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Academy. I have also attended a three-month acting workshop with Om Katare and worked on my dance moves with Shiamak Davar. I know Kathak, western dance, salsa and jive.
Also, I've assisted in a couple of movies, like Omkara.
Do you think you're at an advantage with your dad producing this film?
Absolutely, I will be the first to admit that. There are other actors out there who are far more talented than me. I know how difficult it is to get a break in the industry without contacts. I know I am fortunate.
