Ah, who could forget that quintessentially Shakespearean, if very commercial blockbuster Sagalakala Vallavan, which re-instated Kamal Haasan's status as a hugely bankable hero?
Playing right alongside was Ambika, the spoiled rich brat, reprising the ever-popular role of a troublesome Kate in The Taming of the Shrew.
Their pairing notched top ratings, and saw Ambika competing with her beautiful sister Radha in playing Kamal's romantic interest in movies like Kadhal Parisu and Naanum Oru Thozhilaali.
Kakki Sattai, in particular displayed how comfortable they were around each other, romancing and having their funny moments which produced genuine laughs.
With Ambika, Kamal found the formulaic Tamil heroine who could run around trees and bring a distinctive spark to her performances as well. So much so that even a tiny role as his wife brought good reviews in another Kamal starrer, Vikram.
