Val Kilmer
Though Batman and Batman Returns were successful at the box office, purists complained that the series had moved away from its roots. The emphasis on crime-solving and action-packed adventure had given way to dark, psycho thrillers.
But Val Kilmer gave us a Batman championed by many as the first authentic version of the character. By this, they meant that Kilmer, with his Top Gun tough guy persona, was more suited to play the physically gifted Batman of the comics. Batman creator Bob Kane reportedly still prefers Kilmer's Batman to all others that came before and after this film. While his Bruce Wayne was a little stiff, his Batman was spot-on.
The film was a success, and Kilmer, with his good looks and ripped body, was perfect for the role.
