Blessy has only three films to his credit as a writer-director. But that was all that was needed to include him among the brightest prospects in Malayalam cinema right now.
While his Kazhcha (Mammootty in the lead) unveiled a splendid relationship between a film projectionist and an orphaned Gujarati kid, his Thanmathra (Mohanlal in the lead) zooms in on the trauma that follows after a middle aged man becomes an Alzheimer's patient.
Palunku (Mammootty again) narrated the effects of a globalised world on some ordinary people.
Now, he is all set to create magic with Calcutta News, which has Dileep and Meera Jasmine in the lead roles. In an exclusive interview, Blessy talks about the film.
Calcutta News is finally reaching the theatres after several hurdles. How do you feel?
I'm relieved and delighted. It's a big film in every way. From technical aspects to visual impact and graphic footages, great effort has gone into the making of the film. We took more time than it was originally planned to bring it to the theatres. The often adverse climatic conditions during the shooting of the film also resulted in the delay.
