Why writers have stopped Hollywood

They've put their pens down and picked up picketing signs. The American entertainment industry is knocked out cold by a Writer's Union demanding fairer division of wealth. It is an issue that matters deeply to all of us: who've ever written, read or enjoyed a word spoken on screen.

Here are 10 possibly asked questions to try and explain the ongoing Writer's Guild strike in Hollywood:

What's the deal with the Writer's Guild strike, anyway?

The 2007-08 Writers Guild Of America strike, that brings together both labour unions of WGA East and WGA West, started on November 5, 2007. The writers and their supporters are picketing against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, the AMPTP. The strike involves more than 12,000 writers, and has been on for more than nine weeks.
