Marion Cotillard winning Best Actress
Thing is, the Academy loves Cate Blanchett. And giving prizes to people who play the Queen. It's one of those double-cheeseburger combos them voters have serious trouble resisting. Also a legendary veteran was taking yet another great stab at immortality. And on the other end of the spectrum, there was a 20 year old in the most loved film of the year.
In all that, the Academy chose to reward a lovely French actress for playing a French musician. Not bad, Oscar-boys. Not bad at all.
