Also a legendary veteran was taking yet another great stab at immortality. And on the other end of the spectrum, there was a 20 year old in the most loved film of the year.

In all that, the Academy chose to reward a lovely French actress for playing a French musician. Not bad, Oscar-boys. Not bad at all.
