A Kentucky youth, George moved to LA in 1982, and ignominously spent his first year struggling for a role while sleeping in a buddy's closet. Not many remember this, but one of Clooney's first acting jobs came in the second episode of cheesy action TV series Street Hawk -- yup, the one with the black superbike -- back in the early 80s.
Clooney found regular television work with work in Chicago-based medical drama, E/R, not to be convinced with his ascent to stardom with 1994-onwards ER, also a Chicago-based medical drama. As Dr Doug Ross on the hit show, Clooney was already gaining pin-up boy status, and was soon noticed by filmmakers.
