Marriage brings out the best in Ash!

We have seen Aishwarya Rai Bachchan playing a number of roles -- a teacher in Shabd, a thief in Dhoom: 2, a courtesan in Umrao Jaan...

Call it coincidence if you may, but Ash's most memorable roles are the ones where she plays a wife.

Her upcoming film Jodhaa Akbar also sees her in the role of a Hindu princess, who becomes a part of a political marriage with the great Mughal Emperor Akbar.

While the fate of the film will be decided on February 15, Mrs Bachchan's performance as the better half in past films are notable. Check them out!

Iruvar (1997)

In her debut film -- Mani Ratnam's Tamil film, Iruvar -- Ash had a double role. She played a demure housewife in a village and as well as a feisty actress who has an affair with the chief minister of the state.

The film, which has music composed by A R Rahman, traces the life of two people, Anandan (played by Mohanlal) and Selvam (Prakash Raj).
