Nominee Spotlight: Marion Cotillard
Cotillard was thrust into theatre right from childhood, cast in one of her father's plays. Her cinematic career began in the mid-90s. Initially plagued by disastrous cinematic decisions, things blossomed for her when director Luc Besson hailed her for his cabride.
Taxi, a sensational success that would turn into France's most successful film franchise of all time, was a rollercoaster ride penned by Besson in 30 days. Cotillard immediately got the spotlight by starring as leading man Samy Naceri's pretty lover.
