Designing for Deepika:
Deepika plays a double role in the film, so she has two different looks.
She seemed very keen in my designs. I had made some sketches so that she could visualise how she would look in the outfit. I wanted her to look sophisticated and chic. We shopped together in New York.
Her first character Sukhi is a wannabe veejay -- she's a very colourful and bubbly girl. She's like a Barbie doll. We used soft colours like pinks and purples.
Her second character Meow, on the other hand, is the opposite. Meow is like a black cat -- a strong, tough, slim and sleek girl. She wears the traditional cheongsam but still comes across as a femme fatale.
