Making Akshay and Deepika look Chinese
It's not everyday that one gets to make a Bollywood superstar look Chinese. Jaimal Odedra (inset) clearly had a lot on his plate when he was signed on to design the looks of Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone in their film together, Chandni Chowk to China.
Odedra has been a part of the London fashion industry for 17 years, and works for Bollywood for the first time in this venture.

"We have used bright colours from India and pastel colours from China for the costumes," Odedra explains. "Since Akshay and Deepika have different looks when they are in different countries, it was not a problem designing their outfits."
He tells Nithya Ramani how he made the cast -- including Ranvir Shorey -- look Chinese.
Designing Akshay's look:
He is always in dark coloured woolen checked shirts and trousers in India. We used woolen material because of the weather conditions.
He wore belts, made of Indian leather, across his body. We saw this trend among chefs in small restaurants. They used these belts to keep their knives and spice bottles.
