The import of heroines from Hindi started when 'Crazy Star' Ravichandran chose Juhi Chawla for his Prema Loka. Then he asked Khushboo to play the lead in Ranadheera after which she decided to stay in the South. Shilpa Shetty was the heroine of Ravi Chandran and Upendra in Preethsodu Thappa and Auto Shankar. Sonali Bendre acted in the film Preetse, a remake of Darr.
Now, four more Bollywood starlets have now moved to the Kannada film industry. We take a look.
Nisha Kothari
Nisha Kothari has bagged a film with Puneet Raj Kumar in Raaj, the Showman directed by Prem. Ever since her opportunities in Hindi shrank, Nisha has been working in South Indian films.
She had acted in a Telugu film with Balakrishna which however did not light the box office to fire. Nisha hopes that bubbly role in her first Kannada film will click.
