My company has started a wing called Red Chillies Idiot Box. With all my friends in television, I am trying to do something on TV too. But we don't have the expertise in television. I want to do film-based stuff on television, like HBO's short films. I want to do a mini-series on television because we know the film business. But not soaps. And I won't even want to get into it. We will decide something in the next two months.

There are 90 people working in my company. When we started, I would show these boys how to edit and add music, since I have done a course in Mass Communication from Jamia Millia. Now, these kids teach me!

You remind me of JRD Tata, who was overlooking different businesses while his team leaders ran the show.

Yes, I only overlook my businesses because I have interest in many things. I have only one life and I want to do many things. Now, I feel that my boys, who are working for me, have a good understanding. And for the last two years, I have started feeling that my ideas may be stale. If I like an idea and start thinking in Shah Rukh Khan-style, then every film will look like a Shah Rukh Khan-style film. I will never give a filmmaker a chance to say that Shah Rukh ruined my film.

Success and Shah Rukh seem to go hand-in-hand. What you need for success: luck or hard work?

I think to succeed, you should know what can go wrong. I think I am successful because of luck and being at the right place at the right time. I am not special. Eight years ago, I used to think I was special. But now, I feel there is a set of audience that love me because I come on television more often.

You always say, you love to win.

I say that because I have become famous. Otherwise all of us think the same way. (laughs)

There are many people who don't win. I got a chance and proved it, so that's why I'm saying it. God has been kind so far. Tomorrow, if God wills, I will see failure too. I hope then I can say that I enjoyed the failure too.

But whatever you touch turns to gold.

I have started getting scared of that. I am the same man. I always do things quickly and return home. I am good at multi-tasking; that is a gift given to me by God.
