I think the director chooses the cast, the actors do not choose films or directors. Tanuja felt I would fit the role that she had in mind and so she approached me.

Hope is not a Bollywood musical. It has songs but not the cliched romantic, running-around-the-trees type of songs. I do not burst into a dream sequence with Ali and sing songs. I liked the concept.

It's not a path-breaking film. It does not delve into any social issues. It is just a modern day story depicting life post 9/11. My father-in-law is not upset because I'm in love with someone else after my husband's death. He's angry because the man I'm in love with is Muslim.
