I didn't know him. He came to me with a script and I fell in love with the theme. I was floored when he narrated the script to me. The story has lovely moments between Banku and Bhootnath.

Vivek has packed in a commendable performance as a director. I am happy with the way he has handled the film. I couldn't have asked for more.

Were you not hesitant about trusting a first-time director with such a huge responsibility, especially directing someone like Amitabh Bachchan in such an unusual role?

There cannot be two directors on the sets. Either you do it or let someone else do it. There is no middle ground. It's not like you rope him in and then you call the shots. It doesn't work like that. And I don't believe in such meddling ways, either.

I entrusted him with the film in totality. I have seen a few portions of the film and I'm satisfied with his job.
