'I want Kandaswamy to be the biggest film of 2008'

Labelled as Mani Ratnam's assistant when he made Virumbigiren and Five Star, Susi Ganesan has literally come a very long way. The success and novel treatment of Thiruttu Payale has propelled this engineer turned filmmaker to a higher league.

His latest film Kandaswamy with Vikram and Shriya is one of the most talked about and hyped films in Tamil now.

From a small budget film like Five Star with newcomers, Susi Ganesan has moved on to making bigger budget films. Everything about Kandaswamy is big -- be it the launch of the trailer to the names associated with it. It was rumoured that each invitation card was worth Rs 15,000!

In this exclusive interview with Shobha Warrier, the filmmaker talks about directing such a big film, the shooting of which will start in early October. Excerpts:
