A father's dilemma

Chiranjeevi is the undisputed king of Telugu cinema and at the age of 52, he continues to rule Tollywood. The megastar who is known for his power-packed performances on screen, made his entry into film land in Manavoori Pandavulu in 1977 after earning a diploma in acting from Chennai Film Institute.

Annaya (elder brother), as he is fondly called, has however been in the news for the past couple of months not for his movies. First was the speculation that he would be joining politics, and now over his youngest daughter Srija eloping in true filmi style.

Although his daughter has managed to garner a lot of support through the media, Chiru's fans stick by him and say the star can do no wrong.

His 150-odd fan clubs across the world have openly expressed their support for the star and say Srija was wrong. Fans in Andhra Pradesh who have elevated Chiranjeevi to the status of a demi-god, have sworn to get his daughter back to him and are even willing to put their lives at stake for the same.

Srija and her husband Sirish Bharadwaj complain that they have got too many hate mails from Chiranjeevi's fans. In fact the hate mails only seem to be increasing as each day passes and as of now they have received over 1800 such mails.

One of the mails read, 'We are still hunting for you'. Most of the mails are directed at Sirish as the fans feels they should not hurt her father's favourite daughter.
