New York welcomes The Darjeeling Limited

Amara Karan, (whose full last name is Karunakaran), a London-raised actress of Sri Lankan origin, plays a saucy assistant train steward in the film. She says she finds it difficult to believe that she got to do such a plum role in her very first feature film.

She also said that much of her spontaneity in the film was because of the low handed instructions Anderson gave her, and the encouragement she got from Schwartzman. The scorching kissing scene in the film was a bit hard thing to do, she confessed. Besides, it takes place in a cramped toilet which was also dirty, she said. But Schwartzman made her feel comfortable.
