Daughter to Filmalaya Studios founder filmmaker Ram Mukherjee, Rani debuted in this relatively small Ashok Gaekwad film with a very bold premise. The story -- of a rape victim asking to be married to the rapist -- was strong and Mukerji did very competently indeed, even when the film faltered.
