The man who gave us Chocolate

Shafi has been churning out blockbusters for quite a while now, the latest being Chocolate. This is the second big hit of the year for the filmmaker, the first being Mayavi.

The Malayalam filmmaker's latest film is an interesting tale about a boy who gets admission into a women's college. Debutant duo Sachi and Sethu have scripted the tale which stars Prithviraj and Roma in the lead.

In this interview, Shafi spills the beans on the making of Chocolate and more.

On his career as a director: My entry into films was easier when compared to many others in the business. My brother Rafi -- of Rafi-Mecartin duo -- is one of the most successful writer-directors in the industry. In fact, they wrote the script for my first film, One Man Show. I have learnt the basics of filmmaking from them, and also from directors like Siddique-Lal and Rajasenan. I have been fortunate enough to direct films based on scripts by some of the most selling names, before Chocolate.
