Vivek seems to be keeping a low profile, avoiding the press for a year, ever since the news of his ex-girlfriend Aishwarya Rai dating Abhishek Bachchan, became public.
His recent films, including his last one Naksha in 2006, have not been doing well. "You cannot control the fate of a film," he says. "I have done 16 films so far and there is no guarantee which one will do well and which one will not."
But his fan base does not seem to have suffered that much. A frame sent by a fan hangs at his house in Juhu, and has a beautiful couplet in Hindi: Vivek tum ho bahut hi nek, yeh janta nahi har ek, kitna accha hota agar tumse aur hote do ek (Vivek, you are a gentlemen, unlike many others, it would have been nice if there were more people like you.)
Pointing at the frame, Vivek says, "My fans say that they love me even if I have two or three flops. They give me strength; they are my support system."
His room is filled with award trophies that he bagged for his first film, Ram Gopal Varma's Company.
