The 'ponyhawk,' as christened by pop culture blogs online, is being looked at as the reason Malakar -- who massacred a Gwen Stefani song (despite the guest judge's express disapproval in letting him sing something by her) this week -- stays on to sing another week.
While Idol host Ryan Seacrest may don a wig for the Results Show and declare himself 'Sanjaya-d,' the fact that Malakar doesn't feature in the bottom three indicates that he might indeed be heading for the very top.
