The name is Edward. Edward the Head.
As drummer Nicko McBrain puts it, "Eddie was very unfortunate. He was born without a body." And so it was that the nightmarish creation by artist Derek Riggs grew to represent heavy metaldom's most consistent body of work.
Iron Maiden uses the transmogrifying zombie throughout their cover art, and it was he -- who grimly counts The Number Of The Beast with his bony fingers -- who made Saturday night unforgettable.
Eddie came to India, baby. And you had to be there.
No excuses: if you weren't in Bangalore on March 17, you are not a metal-head. The event was christened Eddfest, and packing Palace Grounds to capacity were a crowd of about 20,000 fanatics from across the subcontinent, flag-bearing contingents coming from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and even diehard Edd-heads from Australia and the UK.
Iron Maiden came to town, and what a night they made of it!
