'You'll see a mad streak in me'

She is more motherly than bubbly, says Abhishek Bachchan.

Preity Zinta takes on a crazy new role in Shaad Ali's Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, also starring Lara Dutta and Bobby Deol. Here's what the actress has to say about the film:

I play Alvira Khan who's from Lahore but can't accept the fact that she is a Pakistani living in London. She's actually British and the fun part is that she is more British then the queen herself. She has a lot of layers but underneath it all she's very endearing and sweet.

She's not this typical heroine with the salt on her nose. She has this attitude and image of herself, and she is so into that image that everything else dilutes the equation. She's also a lot of fun and quite mad. I think its one of my most mad and totally energetic and crazy characters that I have played till now.

What made you decide to do Jhoom?

It's madness. This is the first time that I did not any problem with a script when it was narrated to me. It's very fast, moves well and really very funny. Each character has a layer and, more then anything else, after you watch it you have this whole feeling, like 'phew!'
