Flop fever at the box office

Last Friday saw the release of 6 films, all small budget -- and all stumbling at the box office:

Ganesh Acharya's Swami failed to make a mark, despite being a limited release; Emraan Hashmi's magic failed with The Train, collections of which ranged between 6-30%, even on day one; Dharm, a film based in Varanasi, did not draw enough audience even at a theatre there, causing the very first show to be cancelled; Trademark Ramsay horror production Ghutan failed miserably; MP3: Mera Pehla Pehla Pyar drew teenagers in cities like Lucknow and Indore, but not enough to sustain the film.

In the end, the titillating Red Swastik may just about emerge the best, catering to the morning show crowds.

Note: Films are ranked according to their release dates. The thumbs ups and downs reflect rediff's views.
