'I'm not trying to emulate Mallika'

Tell me more about Red Swastika.

(Thinks hard) It's about a good girl doing bad things for a good cause. (laughs)

I'm sorry, ambiguity is not one of my superpowers. You will have to be more specific.

Well, it's an erotic psycho-thriller about a respectable girl who wants a regular life until a horrific incident shatters her existence. She dons several roles thereafter -- a mother, lover, killer and seductress.

She's the anti-hero who leaves a red Swastika on her victim's forehead after every kill. It's a dark film.

This sounds like the film I Spit on your Grave

Yes, I will not deny that the film does have some similarities but the screenplay and the modus operandi is completely distinctive. We have just been inspired by the thought.

I've seen the promos of the film and it looks like another 'bold' film?

It's a film for mature audiences. Yes, there is a lot of adult content, lots of sex and violence but it's not just for the sake of making the film sensational. I think audiences are mature enough to recognise good content and appreciate it. There is a growing trend for sensible cinema that feeds the intellectuals who aren't prudes.

You sound just like Mallika Sherawat.

It's not a deliberate effort. I have my own identity and she has hers. I'm not trying to emulate her in any way. I'm happy she has achieved so much success and hopefully, I will too. Five years down the line, my house will stalk a Filmfare award, or perhaps even an Oscar.
