The Mehbooba o mehbooba number, which should be hitting music channels any second now, is for Himesh Reshammiya's upcoming cinematic debut, Aap Kaa Surroor: The Moviee: The Real Luv Story, the baseball-capped composer having acquired the rights to the RD Burman original, from Sholay.
Saroj Khan is choreographing the song, and Mallika's thrilled to be working with Bollywood's dancing diva. Evidently the veteran choreographer is quite a blast as she mimics the steps, and the actress is completely gung-ho about this first outing with Khan. For now, she's all dressed up and waiting to be called, and over coffee, we talk about her turning producer, and how she watches films by the bucket-load.
Everyone loves Little Miss Sunshine, but the conversation really turns a blast when bonding with the woman over one of the most overlooked films of last year, Mexican director Alfonso Cuaron's breathtaking Children Of Men. And while I agree with Mallika that Julianne Moore was wasted in the film -- any movie can always do with a bit more Julianne -- it was still a classic.
The actress sits back, discussing world cinema -- while casually, distractingly crossing and uncrossing her legs -- emphasising that she isn't a party girl. A good DVD and she's happy on a Saturday night.
