He was born Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr. The name we all know him by, which used to contain an extra Dogg back in the day, comes from a love for Peanuts' lead character, Snoopy.
From being one of America's cutting-edge rappers and performing with Tupac, Notorious BIG and Mac Dre, Snoop's gone on to become one of the most prolific music producers in the US, fostering artists and creating collaborative albums. He's been trendspotting with great results over the last few years, and is given to constant reinvention -- even though the classic Snoop rapper remains quite the same mongrel.
And he barks into just the right groove.
