'Composers who harass singers are nowhere today'

Shankar Mahadevan seems to love his new job of being a radio jockey so much that he claims he will miss it when it's over.

The singer-composer enjoyed interviewing Sonu Nigam on Radio City 91.1 FM's morning show, Musical-E-Azam. The interview was very interesting, where Sonu wished he could sing through his nose and how he wanted to sing Khaike Pal Banaraswala in Don. The song eventually went to Udit Narayan.

The two singers also chatted about how music in the industry has hit rock bottom, and how music composers harass singers.

Continuing in our series, rediff.com presents excerpts from an interesting conversation with Shankar, Sonu and RJ Manish Paul.

Manish: How are you Shankar?

Shankar: I am very happy and thanks to Radio City, I get to meet so many people who have changed the face of music. I get an insight into their hard work and dedication. I will miss not being a radio jockey. Today, we have a struggling artist.

Manish: He struggles so much that out of the 100 songs, I hear he sings 99 of them.

Sonu: Hello, how are you all?

Shankar: Where are you coming from?

Sonu: I am coming from a show from Reunion and Mercuor in France. The show was staged two days ago. In 2006, I had made a resolution that after every show, I will keep two days aside to tour the place where the show was organised.

Shankar: It is expensive place.

Sonu: Did you go there?

Shankar: Yes, last year for a concert. Anyways, thank you for coming to this show.
